Application of SEBAL and Ts/VI Trapezoid Models for Estimating Actual Evapotranspiration in the Algerian Semi-Arid Environment to Improve Agricultural Water Management

Abstract Accurate spatio-temporal estimation of evapotranspiration (ET) and surface energy fluxes is crucial for many agro-environmental applications, including the determination water balance, irrigation scheduling, agro-ecological zoning, simulation global changes in land use forecasting crop yields. Remote sensing based balance models are presently most suitable estimating ET at both temporal spatial scales. This study presents an intercomparison maps over Habra plain western Algeria obtained with two different models: Ts/VI trapezoid (Surface temperature/Vegetation Index Trapezoid Model) SEBAL Energy Balance Algorithm Land). used model, due to its simplicity, ease use, few data input requirements relatively high accuracy. It allows directly by using Priestley-Taylor equation. Whereas as residual term equation, a rather complex hot cold pixel contextual approach internally calibrate sensible heat flux through iterative approach. The set consists four Landsat-8 OLI/TIRS images acquired on 2018-2019 some ground measurements. In conclusion, results show that provide comparable outputs suggest approaches mapping agricultural areas where measurements scarce or difficult collect.
